Bacteriophage proteins associated with the bacterial membrane after bacteriophage T7 infection.

چکیده
The majority of the phage-induced proteins made after T7 infection of Escherichia coli are tightly associated with the bacterial membrane. Many of these have been identified. Selective extraction of proteins from these membranes by the detergent Sarkosyl or the chaotropic agent guanidine-hydrochloride indicated that most of these proteins are an integral part of the cytoplasmic membrane and the cell wall. No major changes in the distribution of bacterial proteins in the membrane were observed as a consequence of phage T7 infection.

Alteration of the Escherichia coli membrane by addition of bacteriophage T4 protein synthesized after infection.
Many T4-induced proteins were found associated with the Escherichia coli membrane during infection. Some of these were apparently ionically bound, but many could be identified as integral parts of the inner and outer bacterial membranes by their selective solubilities in guanidine or Sarkosyl. The synthesis and insertion of these proteins into the bacterial membrane were temporally controlled a...
متن کاملIsolation of lytic bacteriophages against pathogenic Escherichia coli strains in poultry in the northwest of Iran
In this study, 90 internal organ samples of poultry with symptoms of colibacillosis were obtained from Maragheh poultry farms in East Azerbaijan, Iran. In total, 70 bacterial isolates were confirmed as Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains using standard biochemical tests, and antibiotic sensitivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. Antibiotics used in this study included ampicillin, pe...
متن کاملEqual incorporation of both parental bacteriophage T7 deoxyribonucleic acid strands into intracellular concatemeric deoxyribonucleic acid.
After infection of Escherichia coli B with radiolabeled T7 bacteriophage, the parental deoxyribonucleic acid label was found in both polynucleotide chains of the intracellular T7 concatemer.
متن کاملCONSTRUCTION OF RECOMBINANT PLASMIDS FOR PERIPLASMIC EXPRESSION OF HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE IN ESCHERICHIA COLI UNDER T7 AND LAC PROMOTERS
In order to study the periplasmic expression of human growth hormone (hGH) in Escherichia coli, the related cDNA was inserted in two expression plasmids carrying pelB signal peptide, one with lac bacterial promoter and the other with a bacteriophage T7-based promoter. The recombinant plasmids were moved to TG1 and BL21 strains of E. coli, respectively. To induce the expression systems, IPTG and...
متن کاملEvidence for direct involvement of T7 RNA polymerase bacteriophage DNA replication.
Experiments in a number of different systems have suggested that the initiation of DNA replication is often dependent upon transcription at the origin of replication. During infection with bacteriophage T7, the T7 genome is transcribed first by the bacterial RNA polymerase and then by a phage-coded enzyme, the product of gene 1. The bacterial enzyme does not appear to be directly involved in th...
